Join the Discussion on AI Applications and Trends with DaLa’s Top AI Leaders

DaLa – Data Literacy Association #DaLa is proud to present you another “food of thought” forum on the hot topic “AI Applications and Trends” together with powerful AI leaders. Our panel speakers are all top notch leaders in Hong Kong AI Ecosystem. It includes Cally Chan #Microsoft, Nixon Chau #Sensetime, Chris Au Young #AAHK and Sunny Lee BBS JP #ASTRI. Chris and Nixon are also two of our DaLa’s Founding Fellows. We have just done a pre-panel call to prepare and ensure that we will have some fruitful and insightful sharing with our audiences.

We will look at new use cases of AI and certainly Generative AI. Will cover challenges to put AI into actions and look into the future of AI and its implications to us in HK and GBA in particular, as well as some key topic like Responsible AI and more..

Apart from the panel, we also support the Digital Transformation Award of this conference.

Exploring Sensetime’s Latest AI Innovations with CUHK Chinese EMBA Students

Can you recognise the young avatar with lots of hair is actually me (perhaps 30 years ago🤣😄)? Amazing and unbelievable, isn’t it? It is one of the fantastic demos in the HQs of Sensetime in Hong Kong.

I have arranged our CUHK Chinese EMBA students to visit #Sensetime #商湯, one of the top #AI companies in the world listed in Hong Kong. It is a part of my Corporate Innovation programme at CUHK. Appreciate Nixon Chau, MD of Sensetime Hong Kong, to host us and shared their latest AI innovations with us. Our students asked very sensible questions and we all learned a lot from our discussion. Also, thanks to my colleagues from CUHK Chinese EMBA team.

Sensetime is rooted in CUHK and well-known for their facial recognition technologies. They have tremendeous success in smart cities, autonomous vehicle and health areas, and more. They didn’t stop there and continue to innovate.

We were impressed by how fast Sensetime to come up with relevant, comprehensive and competitive #GenerativeAI innovations and applications in the high tide of #ChatGPT. One of the reasons is that they have invested heavily on AI technologies and obtained thousands of IPs. Most of these IPs are not commercialized yet. When new trends come, these IPs and the super computing power for machine learning will empower them to respond fast to the market.

Look forward to seeing more AI innovations from Sensetime. We CUHK are so proud of Nixon as our CUHK EMBA alumni. Our #innovation and #technology ecosystem in Hong Kong also appreciate Sensetime’s great accomplishments and contributions to not just Hong Kong but the world.. Keep it up. Thank you.

Co-Creation – Enterprise x Technology Leaders x Startups

I would like to share what I learned from my recent visits to 3 leading innovation labs with AI focus in HKSTP. It is all about co-creation. Love it.   IBM Innovation Lab brings their world’s innovation to HK & co-creates solutions using Design Thinking with client & startup to solve their pain points. IBM’s 19 world-class research facilities spread across 12 laboratories on 6 continents with 3,000+ researchers. Thanks for IBM GM of HK Francis Ngai to make this happen. Siemens Innovation Lab focuses on Mobility & SmartCity. Their MindSphere is the cloud-based, open IoT operating system from Siemens that connects our products, plants, systems, & machines, enabling us to harness the wealth of data generated by IoT with advanced analytics. The lab facilities clients and startups to co-create IoT & Big Data innovations. Thanks  to Siemens CEO of Mobility Jens-Peter Brauner to make it happen. Last but not the least, HKAI Lab is a non-profit organization which aims to empower AI startups on technology side & nurture a healthy AI community for HK. The lab is backed by Alibaba AEF Sensetime & STP. They run 2 cohorts per year to select AI startups with cutting edge technology to join them. Thanks for Executive Director of the HKAI Lab Timothy Leung to make this happen.
