SAP NOW Hong Kong 2023: Exploring SAP’s AI Strategies to Empower Enterprises

Grateful to see that the SAP NOW is back to Hong Kong. It is another great signal of the fast recovery and the strong resilence of our vibrant innovation and technology ecosystem in Hong Kong. Let’s add oil 大家加油! 👏💪.

My radar is always on data and AI. I was keen on learning more on how SAP leverages AI to add values to their clients. Learnt a lot from the renowned speakers from Hong Kong Jockey Club, Swire Coca-Cola, AS Watson and SAP certainly. Here are my 4 key takeaways today:

1. Business Process-specific Generative AI to empower the SAP customers to make use of ChatGPTs to solve problems. SAP has a strategic partnership with #Microsoft on Generative AI for enterprises.

2. Swire Coca-Cola collaborated with SAP not just on AI but data culture. They empower users and IT/Data teams to collaborate and unlock the power of data. Thanks to Matthew TC Wong from Swire Coca-Cola for his sharing on Data-driven culture and the One Team initiative.

3. Domain, technology, data and people are always the key for any change or transformation. AI adoption has no exception. Thanks to Andrew Ma for his sharing on New Retail eLab Tech @ A.S. Watson

4. Focus of SAP HK on 3C: China, Completeness and Customer. Thanks to Esmond’s and his teammates for their commitment and contribution to HK.

Thanks for the leadership from Esmond Tong and the great effort of many good friends in SAP like Andrew Ling, Cannie Tsang, Helen Lam, Greg Wong and many others to make it happen. I believe a few hundred audiences attended this conference in the Ocean Park today. Well done.

Met many old and new friends today like Randy Lai, Keith Chan, Ravel Lai, Vincent So, Henry Hui, William Chan, Ricky Lee, Dustin Lee, David Chan, emily chan, Godfrey Poon and many more. Really pleased to see smiling faces and missed the f2f chats.

Ravel, Henry and I from #DaLa founding team shared with many of our friends there on the mission of our DaLa – Data Literacy Association – to empower everyone to speak data in the AI era. See you guys around in the journey of our Data Literacy Empowerment journey.

Announce the Result of Hong Kong Corporate Innovation Index on Nov 23

Do you know which companies in Hong Kong are the most innovative ones? More importantly, what can we learn from them? I am so excited to let you know that we are ready to announce the result of our first-ever Hong Kong Corporate Innovation Index CII on Nov 23, 2022.

After more than one-year work on CII, we have identified the most innovative enterprises and SMEs in Hong Kong based on our innovation framework. We will also announce a Composite Index for Corporate Innovation in Hong Kong so that we can compare our improvement in the future years. Don’t miss it. Our aim is not so much on the rankings and awards, but more on identifying the gaps and empowering our Hong Kong companies to innovate more effectively. A series of seminars and workshops will follow. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to contribute to this project as it is impactful, meaningful and influential to Hong Kong competitiveness and sustainable growth.

In the past year, we have done a series of tasks and in fact iterations of tasks, e.g. research, pilot study, interviews, survey, analysis, expert groups, etc., to get these results ready. It was not an easy job as you can imagine. Appreciate all the effort and hard work from our CUHK teammates, all steering committee members, all organizing committee members, all sponsors, all supporting organizations and certainly all the companies who participated in our survey and discussions.

Please join us in the afternoon of Nov 23, 2022 to learn more about corporate innovation. Apart from the CUHK senior management, we will have 2 discussion panels. One is on corporate innovation and another one is on SME innovation. We will talk about the findings from our survey and then discuss with the panelists. They are all ranked high on our Corporate Innovation Index.

HKSAR Government top officials, CUHK management, the top management of the awardees, the key leaders on innovation and technology ecosystem in Hong Kong have confirmed to join the ceremony. Please come to learn from and mingle with them.

Sharing in SAP: Importance of Data Literacy Democratization to Traditional Industry Leaders

We had a live demonstration of Edutainment at the nice SAP collaborative office today. After a few sharing sessions on data literacy and data analytics, old friends and new friends were enjoying the famous and tasty German and Belgium beers, and great food.

First, we had some food of thoughts from Esmond Tong, the newly onboard MD of SAP. Congratulations to Esmond for his new journey at SAP.

I, as OpenCertHub Academy’s President, talked about the importance of data literacy democratization to traditional industry leaders and introduced our Data Literacy Empowerment Programme #DLEP. DLEP aims to empower enterprises to build a strong and sustainable data culture and empower the majority of their employees to think, speak and act on data. Greg Wong from SAP then talked about the augmented analysis. Clients and friends from SAP and OpenCertHub Academy attended the sharing sessions. The sharings were insightful but we saved the best for the last.

The beers, chit chats and joyness were all over SAP office to celebrate the mid autumn festival. What a gathering!

Thanks to Esmond Tong, Andrew Ling, Greg Wong, Cannie Tsang, Helen Lam, Suki Chan and their SAP teammates to organize such a great #EduTainment for us. Should do more and will do… Not just beer but reconnecting with friends and clients.

In the turbulent time worldwide, we all really treasured and were grateful to have such a gathering. May you all have a pleasant, safe and warm mid-autumn festival holiday with your families and friends.

The Awards is an annual competition organized by #HarvardBusinessReview, #HBR, #TsinghuaUniversity and #SAP. Hong Kong started participating this competition first time in 2021.

Really grateful to have an opportunity to discuss with GBA and digitalization experts in Hong Kong as well as mainland China. Thanks for #SAP #HKET #HKPC #GBABusinessSchool jointly organized it.

In particular, I was really pleased that we had my mentoring professor Andrew Chan, the President of the #GBA Business School, to share his views on the development of the GBA region.

Then, we had a panel on #DigitalTransformation in the context of the GBA with 2 of my friends. I firstly talked about the key success factors of digital transformation where customer centricity was the key. Andrew Ling from #SAP shared his experience to manage supply chain under uncertainty. Edmond Lai from #HKPC went through a few examples how #SMEs in Hong Kong to leverage on technologies to seize opportunities and manage challenges in these few years including the pandemic time.

Two leading enterprises from the mainland, #Bosch (China) Investment Ltd. and #Terminexus (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. also shared their digital transformation experience. They were the winners of the Digital Transformation Awards #鼎革獎。

The 3rd Annual Digital Transformation Award called #鼎革奖 #Dingge is open for application. It is organized by #HarvardBusinessReview #HBR, #TsinghuaUniversity #清华大学 Institute for Global Industry #IGI, and #SAP.

For the first 2 years, the Award only accepted applications from mainland #China. Great companies from different industries joined and shared their #DigitalTransformation experience.

The good news is that it will accept applications from #HongKong and #Taiwan this year. For Hong Kong companies, it is a good platform to learn more about how Chinese and multinational companies have been doing digital transformation in the mainland. It is also a great opportunity to build the brands and networks of the participating HK companies in the mainland market.

I am so gratitude and honoured that I will be representing Hong Kong to be one of the judges for this award. I encourage more Hong Kong companies to apply for this award to share our experience and learn more from others.
