Global Alumni Forum

It was my honour to participate in the 1st time ever CUHK GlobalAlumniForum in CUHKBusinessSchool today. https://lnkd.in/fWM3hwK

The forum started with a welcome remarks by Prof. Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor & President of CUHK and Kalok Chan Prof. Kalok Chan, Dean of CUHK Business School.

A few hundreds of CUHK Business School students & alumni all over the world joined it today. We explored how business leaders could continue to lead in the increasingly chaotic times across the globe.

Leaders like Cindy Chow from Alibaba, Gilly Wong from HKConsumerCouncil, Daisy Cheng from Futurux (1982 CUHKMBA), Gerardo Salandra from Rocketbots, Yesha Sivan from i8Ventures and many others were there to support the forum. Appreciate CUHK colleagues especially Edmond Siu to organize such a great forum.

I had a sharing session on “The Engine of DigitalEconomy – AI and BigData“. My key point was that AI is the fuel for the following SIX pillars of Digital Economy: 1. Digital Leadership 2. Cross Border Competition 3. Winning without Traditional Assets 4. Platform is the King 5. The World of Unicorns 6. Smart Back Office

Lastly, I shared how I approach and study AI through 3A (Automation Augmentation Amplification) and 3F (Fun Function Fear). Welcome to our AI journey.

Reengineering Work in the Age of AI

According to a recent PWC study, only 3% of our jobs will be automated by AI by 2020 but the percenage will go up to 30% by 2030. We talked about the role of HR in the AI Era. HR can certainly leverage on AI to do their key functions much more effectively. More importantly, HR is the trusted partner of their colleagues in this unprecedented AI transformation.

A few key takeaways: 1. Culture & mindset change 2. New AI education 3. Besides IQ & EQ, DQ DataQuotient is a must-have competence 4. Embrace young talents & startups 5. Protect customers & employees right, data privacy & security, AI ethics.

Why Big Data Matters for Smart City? – Interviewed by HK GS1

I shared my view in an interview conducted in GS1HK Annual IoT Conference 2019 on how IOT, AIOT, 5G and BigData work together to empower business and technology leaders and professionals with high DataQuotient or DQ so that they can lead and compete in the DigitalEconomy. In the AI Era, 30% of all current jobs will be automated by AI by 2030 according to PWC. At the same time, 30% of our workforce in leading enterprises need to be a CitizenDataScientist according to Gartner. Do you get the logic from these 2 numbers and what does it mean to you? Our view is that DQ will be as equally important as today’s IQ, EQ and major language skills, such as, English, for the success of everyone in our new workplace of Digital Economy. Trade War is Now; AI War is the Future (Near Future)

AI China US DataQuotient DQ CitizenDataScientist By 2030, AI will generate a significant impact to the GDP of whole world. The top 2 countries are China 26.1% and the US 14.5% according to PWC. Trade War is now but AI War is the future. I have just done a series of talks on this topic in the 3 major cities of China: Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing. Though we always say that people from these 3 cities are very different, they are the same in facing the same opportunity and challenge ahead in the AI era.

It is not a question if we are ready or not. We need to embrace it and sit on the driving seat to leverage on AI or amplify our abilities to compete in the future (in fact very near future). We need to keep learning AI and have a mindset of AI first. Are you prepared to be a Citizen Data Scientist? Proving yourselves that you can speak the language of AI and have a high Data Quotient (DQ) are a must for our career advancement just like we need to speak English and have a high IQ, EQ and AQ in the past 2 decades. Look forward to having a great AI journey together with you.

It is my honour to receive the Outstanding CityU DBA Alumni Award 2018 from Prof Ozer, CityU DBA Director, and Dr. George Lam,Cyberport Chairman. I would like to thank Prof Ozer, Prof Vogel and Prof Kumar, many professors there to nurture me and support me to complete my doctoral thesis on big data in my Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) journey.
