I have shared my #BigData & #AI experience from #MachineLearning #Algorithms #DataLiteracy concepts to innovative applications in #FinancialServices #FinTech & #ResponsibleAI. Apart from lectures, case studies & group discussions, I have invited 2 AI experts to share their experience. My heartfelt thanks to my guest speakers Calvin Cheng, CFA from Wizpresso & Daniel Ling from OneConnect Financial Technology.

#TECH in #China becomes a hot topic in the West these days. I have conducted an online class on “Emerging TECH in China” to the fellow executive students from one of the top universities in Europe, the #ImperialCollege Imperial College London. It is a part of the one week program of #CUHK The Chinese University of Hong Kong to the Imperial College Business School in #London.

I talked about the Tech landscape, the #startup #ecosystem and #CorporateInnovation in China. I covered hot topics like the foreign market and investment strategy, self-reliance capabilities, #5G#AI#Semiconductors, Corporate #intrapreneurship, talents, #GreaterBayArea#HangSengTechIndex, tech giants returning from #Nasdaq to Hong Kong and Shanghai #StockExchanges, etc.

I used a number of cases like #Baidu#Alibaba#Tencent#ByteDance#TikTok#AntFinancial#SenseTime#PingAn#Haier#Huawei#BYD#XiaopengMotors#Hema#Xiaomi#Qihoo360#SequoiaCapital#IDGCapital#MatrixPartners as examples to show the strength and potential risks of China Tech.

The Imperial College’s students showed great interest on this topic, were engaged well and asked lots of sensible questions. I also learned a lot from their views and feedbacks as well. Thank you so much for their active participation.

The world’s top 5 companies are #Platform in terms of Market Cap. They are #Microsoft, #Apple, #Amazon, #Alphabet, #Facebook, not the traditional leaders. Successful unicorns are mainly platforms like #Uber, #Airbnb I have designed a 2 days Platform Strategy & Breakthrough training program for executives to learn & unlock the potentials of platform business models for their companies. The training was done last week. The participants were from #FinancialServices, #Retail, #Telecom. WHAT IS THE POWER DUO OF AI & BIG DATA?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is only possible with big data, because we need a tremendous amount of data to “teach” or “train” AI systems. As its name suggests, AI has a form of intelligence of its own. It figures out which rules to follow based on the data that we feed them.

An AI application doesn’t just do what it’s been programmed to do. AI can go further than that. It responds to changing information and makes adjustment based on what it learns as it goes along. AI differs from supercomputers and other systems with powerful computing capabilities in one important way. AI systems are capable of not just computing, but actual learning — machine learning. The more data you give these machine learning networks and the more computational capability you give them, the better the result becomes because the results of previous machine-learning exercises can be fed back into the algorithms.

What is a platform?

What do these top companies like Alibaba, Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google, Netflix, Tencent and Ctrip have in common? Apart from being the world’s highest valuated businesses, they are the world’s most influential platforms.

Defining platforms

By operating as open ecosystems, companies match suppliers of products, services, or content to consumers, and gain enormous value and market share.  These companies, known as multilateral platforms, act as intermediaries, connecting service providers and users to serve users of different needs.
