(Hong Kong) InnoPreneur Forum: “Successful eCommerce Strategies in the New Normal”

We had a very fruitful discussion with #eCommerce leaders and #entrepreneurs today. It is a part of the #Innopreneur Forum series organized by #HKPC. The Innopreneur Network aims to connect #SMEs with innovators and practitioners.

To deliver successful eCommerce, there are quite a few challenges that we need to overcome like #Marketing, #O2O integration, #Logistics, #Warehousing, #CrossBorder, #Cost, #Speed, #DataAnalytics, #DataPrivacy, #DigitalReadiness, #Financing, #CashFlow and more.

Fortunately, we have built a vibrant eCommerce #ecosystem in Hong Kong. Merchants and SMEs can focus on marketing and #innovation. For the rest of these challenges, they can leverage the respective partners in the ecosystem. In the last 6 years, Hong Kong has cultivated 4,000+ #startups and 10+ #unicorns. They have been making pivotal impact and significant contribution to our society in this chaotic pandemic period.

The 2nd episode of our #ToaSirDataTalk#ToaSir講數 interview series is now ready to watch. Our guest speaker this time was Mr. Daniel Kwong, the former Chief Information and Innovation Officer of #CITIC#Telecom.

Daniel shared practical tips and examples to get the most out of data for his company. We also discussed how to acquire, train and engage data scientists. In addition, Daniel shared how to nurture a data culture in his company to get non-IT colleagues across business and operation units to make use of data to seize revenue opportunities and enhance operation efficiency.

Really learned a lot from Daniel. Appreciate his sharing and thank you. That is the key objective of our programme “Toa Sir Data Talk” i.e. invite experienced business and data leaders to share their industry best practices and data strategy on making use of data in their businesses and operations.

Starting from the Year of the Tiger, I will co-host the signature programme New Management Thinking 管理新思維 of #RTHK. I will invite top leaders in town to share their experience on digital transformation and corporate innovation.

The Road Ahead.. Today is the fourth day of the Year of the Tiger. It is the official work day of the year according to the #TongSheng #通勝. It is believed that if we started our work well today, we will have a prosperous and harvesting year. Wish you start your first working day well and have a great Year of the Tiger. 祝大家開工大吉，身體健康。

Rather than a busy work day, I started my first working day today in a mountain to plan my “road” in the Year of the Tiger. It is a clear sky, quiet and comfortable temperature today. It is a perfect day to think clearly on what to improve myself from last year and to achieve this year. How about you?

The more that I think of my journey, the better that I feel grateful to what I have today. Thanks to my family, my beloved ones, friends and schoolmates, mentors and mentees, professors and students, colleagues and business partners and many others in my journey. I am just lucky and fortunate to have met you.

Look forward to having another year of joy and accomplishment with you all.

Remarks: #TongSheng is a traditional Chinese calendar which marks what to do and what not to do every day. It is a great example of the first generation of Big Data which predicted what to do based on the past historical data. No machine learning and AI were there then but lots of wisdom from our ancestors.
