(Hong Kong) Reunion with Alumni of Cyberport CUPP 2016 Programme

Really happy to see Roy Hung & his friends again. I met Roy a few years ago in our #Cyberport #CUPP 2016 programme. My team & I brought 50+ top university students from Hong Kong to the #StanfordUniversity in #SiliconValley to learn #FinTech & #Entrepreneurship. It was a fruitful, impactful & fun trip. Apart from what we learned from this trip, Roy & I also talked about the tasty & yummy lobsters and crabs in the Fisherman’s Wharf as well as the Ferrari from Leslie Yuen. What an experience and memory!. Thanks Leslie Yuen, Dr. Edwin Lee 李根興, Alice So and Katherine Lam for their great effort to make this happened.

The series include 8 two-day modules with lectures, cases, discussions, guests sharing & hands-on workshops. Participants can take one to all of these modules. A brand new year is coming. Let’s have a great start. My first open talk in 2021 will be on Jan 13. The theme of my sharing session is “Winning with #DigitalLeadership“.

In today’s digital age, every leader needs to be a digital leader. It is not just the job of #TECH guys but also a crucial competence that every leader of large to small companies should possess to seize the emerging opportunities in the digital economy, and keep your companies and yourselves relevant and competitive.

I will talk about 8 secret weapons of the digital leaders and their digital talent strategy in the session.

The world’s top 5 companies are #Platform in terms of Market Cap. They are #Microsoft, #Apple, #Amazon, #Alphabet, #Facebook, not the traditional leaders. Successful unicorns are mainly platforms like #Uber, #Airbnb I have designed a 2 days Platform Strategy & Breakthrough training program for executives to learn & unlock the potentials of platform business models for their companies. The training was done last week. The participants were from #FinancialServices, #Retail, #Telecom. We have discussed a few inspirational cases #Airbnb, #ZBJ, #XFire, #Qihoo, #Dianrong, #Quicken, #Adobe, #Nike, #Hema, etc. The participants learned about the best industry practices of platform like #NetworkEffect, #ChickenAndEgg, #Multihoming, #Disintermediation, #Monetization #Governance, etc. I have also invited Norman Tam from #Tencent & Samuel C.H. Wan from #Stockviva to share their wisdom to design, run, monetize, govern their platforms. It was very useful. (Hong Kong) Mini MBA Programme Graduation Ceremony

Today was the graduation ceremony of the 3rd cohort of our #MiniMBA programme co-orgainized by #CUHK #BusinessSchool #APIB & #Convoy since April 2019. We’re so grateful to have trained over hundreds of high-calibre Convoy executives. https://lnkd.in/gmXVW_3

Every cohort had 9 modules taught by our faculties with deep real-world industry experience. #ActionLearning projects done by our students were full of #entrepreneurship passion. The best projects are further cultivated & funded to progress further. Industry seminars on #FinTech topics were held https://lnkd.in/gzQy_-8. The inspired Convoy team then initiated its own #Hackathon #Finspire with great success https://lnkd.in/gJQupVP. Convoy also supported #Cyberport #CUPP & joined #MIT #InnovationNode workshop.

The last 15 months was a fruitful training journey for all students from Convoy & CUHK faculties. That is an excellent example of how corporates & universities worked together to cultivate the next generation of leaders to seize unprecedented opportunities in digital economy & manage chaotic world.

Cultivating Intrapreneurship & Innovation DNA for Enterprise’s Sustainable Competitiveness

5 passionate and innovative teams from our CUHK Convoy MiniMBA programme have presented their “NextBigThing” projects today. The winning team not only won a marvellous award but also their project will have good potential to be a real project.
It was the most important part of the whole programme as each team has to capitalize what they learnt from the 10 modules of the programme & innovate like a startup. Rather than just training, it cultivates the intrapreneurship & innovation mindset & capabilities for the participants. It becomes a DNA of the staff & the company for sustainable competitiveness in the ever-changing DigitalEconomy.  
The programme include EmergingTechnology, DesignThinking, High Performance Leadership, CorporateGovernance, Strategy Investment Decisions, and more. I’m so grateful to have a chance to contribute, design, teach & coach the participants.  Look at how they summarized what they learnt on the white boards – impressive. Witnessing their changes & improvement is amazing. It has been 2 cohorts already & the 3rd cohort is on now. Keep it going, teams. You are all our champions.

(Macau) Macau Gets into the Next Decade with Great Opportunities

Macau gets into the next decade with great opportunities. It was not said for no reason.

The new government will start on 20 December 2019. It will be led by a great leader Ho Iat-seng who has extensive experience in various industries and a strong relationship with the mainland and Asia.  In addition, all casinos are required to renew their licenses by 2022. The policies of the Greater Bay Area from the Central Government will be provided more support to Macau. Portuguese-speaking countries, such as Portugal and Brazil, provide good access to their home markets plus countries in Europe and Latin America. More are being explored like RMB Clearing, Stock Exchange, Green Financing, Smart City, MICE, etc. Certainly, there are challenges to be resolved by the new administration together with the business and academic leaders in Macau.

In the past few years, I have been contributing to the government, business and academic communities in Macau especially on innovation and Technology (FinTech, AI, Big Data, Smart City ), Entrepreneurship, Talent Development, and Training areas.

If you are interested in sharing your knowledge and contributing your expertise with Macau or if you have ideas or plans to leverage these opportunities in Macau, please feel free to contact me for potential collaboration.  Let’s nurture Macau to be another great and smart city in the Greater Bay Area and contribute to improving the quality of lives and economy in the region.
