Enjoyed my chat with Harris SUN, Founder and CEO, #RaSpect RaSpect Intelligence Inspection Limited in my OpenCertHub Academy office. I knew Harris when he has just started his #entrepreneurship journey back a few years ago. We both love #AI and #Data.

Back then, I have already appreciated his vision and determination to become an enterprenur after early career in a large multinational firm. Now his company is an elite #AI #PropTech #startup with major clients around the globe. RaSpect is one of the best AI startups from Hong Kong. His innovation use AI to inspect and predict defects and potential repairs for buildings and skyscrapers. Congrats on being one of the KPMG 2022 China Leading PropTech 50. Well done and proud of you, Harris.

We discussed about his market development plan, challenges and opportunities, joys and pains, and many other experience sharing. Enjoyed our conversation.

Christmas is coming. My OpenCertHub partner Andy Kwok and our teammates have set up a Christmas tree in our office. Harris is the first one to take a photo with me with that beautiful tree. Early Merry Christmas to you, Harris. Will continuously support you as always. Add oil!

Lots of Christmas parties are coming. Wish you all enjoy all these long missed f2f parties. Merry Christmas 🎉🍷🍷🌲.

Today is the Moment of the Truth #MOT for my CUHK EMBA students in my Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship course. After 8 days of intensive lectures, case discussion, guest speakers’ sharing, they were presenting their group projects.

The project required my students to study a company’s corporate innovation from 6 different perspectives or dilemmas that they learned from my classes and offsite dinners as well 😄😋.
1. Old Economy vs Digital Economy
2. Customer Centricity vs Innovation
3. Strategy Execution vs Searching for Innovation
4. Internal Innovation vs Open Collaboration
5. Entrepreneurship vs Intrapreneurship
6. Experience Driven vs Data Driven

Really grateful to have such a group of elite executives and professionals in my class with strong learning attitude and positive, open and growth mindset. I can feel and see from the quality, innovativeness and teamwork of their final projects. Thank you so much for their great effort.

Appreciate my guest speakers to spend their weekend time to share their experience with us. We have learnt a lot from their talk, discussion and asking sensible questions. Thanks Jacqueline Chong #AWS #AmazonJens-Peter Brauner, FIET
#SiemensMobility #SiemensRyan Lai #foodpanda, and Austin R. Bryan, #CLP. Their sharing had really made a huge difference. Thank you.

Special thanks to the feedback from my last year’s CUHK EMBA2022 students as they requested the school to lengthen this course from 1.5 credit to 3.0 credit so that I can have more time to share my experience and discuss content more thoroughly with my students this year. It was indeed much more fruitful. Really thankful to like Anita ChanChris SoRicky LeeHans Till (CUHK Executive MBA, PMP)Daniel Ching and many others. It has been a year since they presented their final project. https://lnkd.in/gpHhgZS3

I enjoyed a lot with my students in this journey of learning. Wish my sharing can further nurture and more importantly empower them to be innovative leaders in their respective industries and professions. My last advice for them, “What should we do differently from yesterday so we can survive today (and perhaps tomorrow)”. Keep it up, team.

After almost 3 years of the Covid, our lives are gradually back to normal, at least, close to it. I am so grateful that I could meet with my EMBA students not only f2f in class (with masks), but also in causal dinners (without masks and with smiles) as well. I had a few dinners with different teams in my Corporate Innovation course in the last few weeks. Apart from discussing about innovation and technology, we talked about almost everything. I have a very good diversity in my class this year with business owners, corporate leaders from different industries, entrepreneurs and professionals like doctors, lawyers, accountants and engineers. That is an excellent mix to learn innovation. Really enjoyed our gatherings and understood a lot more about their lives and works. We all learned a lot more than in the classrooms. What a class! What a memory! Thanks to my fellow students. Appreciate Dop SunRachel Yu and Vincent Wong https://lnkd.in/gdH2YRny and a few other fellow students to organize such great gatherings. Hope the Covid is really getting away from us and we all can have more personal touch. It really matters and technology simply cannot replace it. What a week for me last week! I shared my experience on corporate innovation and entrepreneurship with my EMBA, MBA and then Mini-MBA students in a week. That was a very packed but very fruitful and meaningful week for me.

Let me share a bit more on my Mini-MBA class as it was interesting. Our Mini-MBA programme is a series of one-day modules for business executives professionals and entrepreneurs to upskill themselves under their busy schedule. Our main theme is Innovative Leadership. My class this year had a very good mix of executives and professionals from commercial and public sectors like #HKHA Hong Kong Hospital Authority, entrepreneurs from startups like #Aerosim #BioMed, and team leaders from #HKSTP. We mixed them up for class exercises and discussion. That indeed was the best way to learn innovation as diversity is a key success factor for great innovation. Appreciate their active participation and sharing thoughts. Great class! Also, big thank to HKSTP Garland Chow and Gallen Leung to encourage amd support their #startups to join this programme.

My CUHK MBA students have presented their group projects on innovation management today. Really appreciate their great effort and teamwork on preparing the presentation.

Pleased to see that my class has a good mix of international, mainland and Hong Kong students. They were from Europe, US, Russia, India, Japan, mainland China and Hong Kong. That diversity brought in a lot of innovatoon, energy and in fact fun as well. Thanks for Grace Liang and her CUHK MBA teammates to select such a high quality of elite leaders to be my students.

I asked my students to treat the group presentation as a MVP (Minimum Viable Product) of their projects where I can give them feedback and they can make changes before submitting their next MVP which is the final report. That helped them practise MVP approach to innovate progressively and iteratively with customer-first mindset.

Inspiring my students to think out of the box and innovate for sustainable growth is my goal. A few students shared with me that they really got inspired and learned something valuable to their work and career. With that, all my preparation and efforts are worth it. Will keep up to improve and empower more innovative leaders for our society.

We may think that foodpanda’s office would be like a warehouse or a market as it deals with food delivery and logistics. In fact, foodpanda’s office is exactly like a vibrant startup’s office. The environment is open and collaborative. It is full of young talents with passion and innovation. Certainly, the cutty “Pau Pau” panda is there to make everyone joyful at work. They also have draft beer for informal gathering and praticing kitchen to co-create new cuisines with their partners, and more. Just love it.

Thanks for the leadership from their CEO Ryan Lai. It really made a huge difference to innovate for customers and engage young talents. Really happy to see that Ryan has brought his entrepreneurial experience to lead and change the company and in fact the industry. It reinforces my experience again that people who have been startups before can really bring entrepreneurship to corporates and make a difference.

I visited Ryan and his big data man Andrew Chan today in their nice office. We exchanged views on platform and data strategy. Thanks for Ryan’s and Andrew’s sharing and their special moon cake. Really proud of Ryan to lead foodpanda to become a leader in Hong Kong. Add oil, Ryan, Andrew and team.

Congratulations to all the winners of the Digital Transformation of the Year Award of the 2022 Business GoVirtual Expo and Conference. Here are the awardees this year:
https://lnkd.in/gKg8Cuu3

In particular, I was so glad to see Serena Pau from #CLP again and happy for her to win the award. She was one of the elite entrepreneurs with us at Cyberport and is now a brilliant intrapreneur at CLP. That is exactly what I am encouraging more corporates to have entrepreneurs to join them. It will bring their entrepreneurship experience, passion and innovative mindset to the companies. That is what corporates badly need. Well done, Austin R. Bryan,.

Thank you so much for Li Culsin from Baobab Tree Event and wilson chong of IoT HK Association to invite me as the Chairman of this award and an advisor for the conference. Happy to see so many friends f2f over the three days in the conference.

The conference lasted for 3 days and kicked off by the GOH, Professor Sun Dong, Secretary of Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau ITIB, HKSAR Government. Glad to have his support to us. I was impressed by his sincere chats with many of us in the conference. Appreciate Culsin and her teammates to make this happened.

Back to the RTHK station today for recording another episode of New Management Thinking 管理新思維. Found a classical radio in 1950 there powered by Vaccum Tube. Oh, WOW! That actually made me think about my childhood with my whole family around a radio like this. It was as advanced and luxurious as what we have a 8k TV today. More importantly, a much more warmth and intimacy with my family back then. What a memory! Transforming a city from an old model to a smart city is like improving from a vintage radio to a 8K TV. Let’s talk about Smart City this time and why every citizen in Hong Kong should care about it. Grateful to have Thomson Lai, the Asia Digital Head of AECOM, as my guest for another fruitful episode in the RTHK’s New Management Thinking 管理新思維. #AECOM is one of key contributors in planning and building our city of Hong Kong in the last 60+ years. Received a book from Thomson called “Hong Kong Created Together”. Lots of Hong Kong’s history from nobody to one of the top cities with world-class infrastructure. Thanks the contribution from Thomson and his AECOM 艾奕康 colleagues. We started talking about what a smart city is. Then we discussed what Hong Kong has been doing in the journey of becoming a smart city, how other leading cities are doing, what key stakeholders are in a smart city and how they are empowering our city as a smart city. Certainly we talked about how emerging #technologies and #data are impacting smart cities. Very interesting. You don’t want to miss it. Really appreciate Thomson’s sharing and my RTHK partner Phoebe. My key takeaways are: 1. Citizen centricity 2. Innovation and entrepreneurship 3. Pan-city digital infrastructure If you would like to learn more from Thomson on Smart City now and the future, please tune in RTHK1 on Jun 19 at 2pm. https://lnkd.in/f-X8RaN For previous episodes of the programme, please visit here. https://lnkd.in/dWRkD_x7 #SmartCity #DigitalCity #RTHK #RTHK1 #FM94 #NewManagementThinking #管理新思維 #CUHK #CitizenJourney #MomentsOfLife #Data #BIM #DigitalTwins #AI #IOT #5G #MetaVerse #VR #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #Startups
