We had a nice evening in #Macau, well virtually. Macau is a beautiful place as you can see in the photo below. I had a webinar designed especially for audiences from Macau last night together with my CUHK EMBA teammates. Hope I can see f2f all my friends, students, and partners in Macau very soon.

The topic was Digital Transformation for Traditional Enterprises. I invited Winson C. W., our CUHK EMBA alumnus, and a Macau native, to share his experience with the digital transformation in Macau. I am very proud of what Winson and many other CUHK alumni from Macau have achieved. They are now contributing to the growth of Macau particularly by seizing the opportunities and managing the challenges arising from the GBA. Winson has shared a few local innovation cases led by our alumni, such as Judy Wong (Robi 3), Antonio (集運幫), and Acen 江總(澳覓). It was impressive. Thank you, Winson.

Winson also shared his CUHK EMBA journey, such as, learning from top industry leaders and faculties, picking up new knowledge, theories and models, making new connections, contributing to society, classmates becoming lifetime friends, enriching his global vision, and more. While most of Macau’s young generation has gone through an undergraduate programme, not too many of them have taken further to upskill themselves with an internationally recognized EMBA programme like CUHK. Apart from strategy, marketing, finance, and human capital, we also have a unique focus and strong faculty on #DigitalTransformation#CorporateInnovation#ChineseWisdom, and #Entrepreneurship – the most needed knowledge and skills in the VUCA*Digital Era.

To better contribute to Macau’s future growth in GBA, EMBA is a good option for the next generation of leaders in Macau to pursue. Here is a link for more.

Macao has been cultivating the Specialised Finance for the last few years. With the new government administration on board, a few exciting Financial Services initiatives are being explored and will soon be launched. AI is inevitably one of the key FinTech areas that Macao needs to support the Macao CE’s vision to transform Macao into a Digital Macao.

I am going to deliver a webinar on AI for Financial Services for the Faculty of Finance, the City University of Macau on May 14, 2020. Financial institutions and Financial Technologies (FinTech) startups are using AI and Machine Learning methods to assess credit quality, to price and market insurance contracts, and to automate client interaction. Some of these companies are optimising scarce capital with AI and machine learning techniques, as well as back-testing models and analysing the market impact of trading large positions. Financial services companies are using these technologies for regulatory compliance, surveillance, data quality assessment, and fraud detection. I will explore more on the webinar.

Macau gets into the next decade with great opportunities. It was not said for no reason.

The new government will start on 20 December 2019. It will be led by a great leader Ho Iat-seng who has extensive experience in various industries and a strong relationship with the mainland and Asia.  In addition, all casinos are required to renew their licenses by 2022. The policies of the Greater Bay Area from the Central Government will be provided more support to Macau. Portuguese-speaking countries, such as Portugal and Brazil, provide good access to their home markets plus countries in Europe and Latin America. More are being explored like RMB Clearing, Stock Exchange, Green Financing, Smart City, MICE, etc. Certainly, there are challenges to be resolved by the new administration together with the business and academic leaders in Macau.

In the past few years, I have been contributing to the government, business and academic communities in Macau especially on innovation and Technology (FinTech, AI, Big Data, Smart City ), Entrepreneurship, Talent Development, and Training areas.

If you are interested in sharing your knowledge and contributing your expertise with Macau or if you have ideas or plans to leverage these opportunities in Macau, please feel free to contact me for potential collaboration.  Let’s nurture Macau to be another great and smart city in the Greater Bay Area and contribute to improving the quality of lives and economy in the region.

Here are some of the snapshot photos taken in my engagement with Macau societies.

The Talents Development Committee of Macau SAR Government to gather overseas Macao’s talents back to Macao to share their experience with the Monetary Authority of Macau, Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre, University of Macau, Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre, etc. Macao-native international talents on  FinTech, Chinese Medicine, and  Entrepreneurship were included in this time.   Macao press on the visit

It was my honour to be a part of it and shared my experience on innovation and technology industry, in particular, FinTech, AI, IoT, SmartCity, Entrepreneurship, Startup with senior government officials, corporate executives and academia. It was a fruitful trip to learn how Macao plans to strengthen their business link with Portuguese speaking countries like Portugal Brazil and position themselves in the Greater Bay Area. Also, how they plan to do more on Entrepreneurship and Smart City. With the new Chief Executive on board in 2020 plus the gambling license renewal of the 6 casinos in 2022, Macao will have a great chance to transform and flourish. If you would like to collaborate with Macao, please let me know.
