CUHK EMBA Hong Kong’s Got Talent: Highlights from the 2023 Reunion Dinner

CUHK EMBA Hong Kong’s Got Talent was the main theme of our #CUHK #EMBA Reunion Dinner 2023. Really pleased to see many of my EMBA students without masks and with big smiles. They are in fact the core talents of Hong Kong. Well done the organizing team to organize such a great reunion gathering. Thanks for Pong Yuen, Howard Lam and his EMBA teammates for all the effort. Special thank to Professor Andrew Chan for his 30 years of contribution to our EMBA programme. Amazing!

I also invited many of my guest speakers whom I invited them to share their experience with my students in my previous classes including Ryan Lai #foodpanda, Jens-Peter Brauner, FIET #Siemen, Jacqueline Chong #AWS #Amazon, Thomson Lai #AECOM, 鄭嘉泓 #Wizpresso, Harris SUN #RaSpect, Ravel Lai #Hysan, Matthew Chan #JardineRestaurantGroup. Grateful and thankful to all of their support and trust.

Congratulations to Ryan as he will start his CUHK EMBA journey in Sep this year. Really our honour to have Ryan as our student. Both the CEOs of the leading food delivery platforms in Hong Kong (#foodpanda) and Macau (#澳覓 #Acen), Ryan Lai and 江海涛, are our CUHK EMBA students now. I have taken a memorable photo with them.

Also met my 5 Founding Fellows of DaLa – Data Literacy Association #DaLa there Nixon Chau, Henry Hui, Matthew Chan, Ravel Lai, 鄭嘉泓. Henry and Nixon are also CUHK EMBA alumni. What a small world! Glad to see old and new friends Vincent Ma Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park Limited #HSITP, Andy Ann, Alan Lai, Emil Chan, Catherine Chan, Francis Ngai, Susanna Chiu, Laura Cozijnsen, Ivan Pong and many others.

RTHK Radio 管理新思維: Interviewing AECOM

Back to the RTHK station today for recording another episode of New Management Thinking 管理新思維. Found a classical radio in 1950 there powered by Vaccum Tube. Oh, WOW! That actually made me think about my childhood with my whole family around a radio like this. It was as advanced and luxurious as what we have a 8k TV today. More importantly, a much more warmth and intimacy with my family back then. What a memory! Transforming a city from an old model to a smart city is like improving from a vintage radio to a 8K TV. Let’s talk about Smart City this time and why every citizen in Hong Kong should care about it. Grateful to have Thomson Lai, the Asia Digital Head of AECOM, as my guest for another fruitful episode in the RTHK’s New Management Thinking 管理新思維. #AECOM is one of key contributors in planning and building our city of Hong Kong in the last 60+ years. Received a book from Thomson called “Hong Kong Created Together”. Lots of Hong Kong’s history from nobody to one of the top cities with world-class infrastructure. Thanks the contribution from Thomson and his AECOM 艾奕康 colleagues. We started talking about what a smart city is. Then we discussed what Hong Kong has been doing in the journey of becoming a smart city, how other leading cities are doing, what key stakeholders are in a smart city and how they are empowering our city as a smart city. Certainly we talked about how emerging #technologies and #data are impacting smart cities. Very interesting. You don’t want to miss it. Really appreciate Thomson’s sharing and my RTHK partner Phoebe. (Hong Kong) AECOM The 1st FastTrack CityHack Hackathon

Congrats to #AECOM Hong Kong to successfully launch its 1st #FastTrack #CityHack #Hackathon. It is the first stop of the AECOM’s hackathon series in Asia. Hong Kong is proud to be the first location showcasing how innovation empowers a smart city.

The AECOM’s #FastTrackCityHack is a two and a half days in-person hackathon and competition on December 3 – 5, 2021. It aims to inspire and drive the development of practicable, forward-looking solutions for a better urban future. It has 3 main streams for the participants to innovate for a #SmartCity: #Resilience, #CarbonZero and #DigitalEcosystem. Hundreds of students and entrepreneurs joined the hackathons and selected ones are now working hard in AECOM’s office to compete for the award.

Thanks Thomson Lai AECOM’s Asia Digital Leader for inviting me as a keynote speaker to get the passionate participants even more inspired for the hackathon. I chose the topic – “#Entrepreneurs: From Good to Great”. The participants are all good entrepreneurs already but what could differentiate them from good to great entrepreneurs. Solving the right problems right is the key. Appreciate #AECOMHK organizing such an impactful hackathon for Hong Kong and the great support from Madison Wai of Hill+Knowlton Strategies.

In the last 2 weeks, I am really grateful to contribute in different industries and professions, from #Engineering, #Accounting, #HR, #ProjectManagement, #Design, to #Banking, #Insurance, #SupplyChain and #Education, on how #innovation and #technologies or I&T made a difference. Our momentum on I&T in Hong Kong is unprecedented. Let’s transform #FromGoodToGreat. Keep it going!
