Experts shared their views on the Enterprise Adoption and Business Models of OpenData and OpenSources in HKPC Hong Kong Productivity Council 1.5 months ago. If you have missed it, please watch and review it here on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/fnVsie4

In the capacity as the Chairman of OpenCertHub, I shared my view in the panel discussion on democratizing DataLiteracy to everyone to fuel the growth of DigitalEconomy. Gartner created the term BigData 2 decades ago and Big Data has further stormed the world since then. In the decade of 2020, we will see their vision on Data Literacy as a language for everyone in Digital Economy to become reality.

Apart from DataScientist, as Gartner took DataEconomy further, we need all business leaders and professionals to be CitizenDataScientist. AI and Big Data Open Sources tools will accelerate this. If you are interested in this topic, you can watch my session on the video (from 3:45 to 12:12).

I also had a previous post on the event organized by HKPC https://lnkd.in/fQHkiW8

Two of the world’s top business cities,  HongKong and Shanghai have a lot of things similar and in common. They are both strong in FinancialServices & play a pivotal role in the global financial services market.

It was my pleasure to join a forum on “Cultivating Data Talents in Financial Services 打造金融数据人才” in Shanghai. I shared the global trend on FinTech & BigData and discussed with experts from Shanghai financial services industry in a panel. Thanks for the valuable sharing from the speakers from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, China Construction Bank, East West Bank, Deutsche Bank. I learned a lot from them.

The forum also launched a cooperation for Hong Kong & Shanghai to join hands to reskill FinancialServices leaders & practitioners in the mainland China with BigData and AI competence. OpenCertHub from Hong Kong is a certification & an examination platform for AI & Big Data talents while 鴻覽金融研究院 from Shanghai is a leading training institute specialized in financial services training. Together, we launched a new series of training programs to help financial services get ready for the AI Era.

Macau gets into the next decade with great opportunities. It was not said for no reason.

The new government will start on 20 December 2019. It will be led by a great leader Ho Iat-seng who has extensive experience in various industries and a strong relationship with the mainland and Asia.  In addition, all casinos are required to renew their licenses by 2022. The policies of the Greater Bay Area from the Central Government will be provided more support to Macau. Portuguese-speaking countries, such as Portugal and Brazil, provide good access to their home markets plus countries in Europe and Latin America. More are being explored like RMB Clearing, Stock Exchange, Green Financing, Smart City, MICE, etc. Certainly, there are challenges to be resolved by the new administration together with the business and academic leaders in Macau.

In the past few years, I have been contributing to the government, business and academic communities in Macau especially on innovation and Technology (FinTech, AI, Big Data, Smart City ), Entrepreneurship, Talent Development, and Training areas.

If you are interested in sharing your knowledge and contributing your expertise with Macau or if you have ideas or plans to leverage these opportunities in Macau, please feel free to contact me for potential collaboration.  Let’s nurture Macau to be another great and smart city in the Greater Bay Area and contribute to improving the quality of lives and economy in the region.

Here are some of the snapshot photos taken in my engagement with Macau societies.

OpenData  OpenSource experts and 300+ audiences had a very fruitful forum today in HKPC.  HKSAR OGCIO Victor Lam JP shared what our government has been doing to transform Hong Kong to be a SmartCity & a DataEconomy. Dr. Bernard Chan JP, Under Secretary for Commerce & Development, and many government leaders & officials have joined the forum. Mr. Stephen Wong, HK Privacy Commissioner, also shared his view on how to protect our data privacy in Data Economy.

Appreciate HKPC Edmond Lai Just Tang (Justine) and their teammates to organize a great platform for all of us to share & learn from each other. AWS OpenCertHub CIOConnect HKU CUHK SCC HKCOTA OpenSourceHK HKSTP Cyberport and many others were there to share and support the open data and open sources community in HK. Thank you all.

As OpenCertHub Chairman, I shared my view on talents requirement in Data Economy and how enterprises & SMEs should reskill their colleagues to be AI & BigData ready. Empowering business & functional leaders & executives to be CitizenDataScientist is the key to success in the inevitable AI Era.

My final thought shared was that Open Sources & Open Data, in fact, bring OpenInnovation & CoCreation mindset to traditional companies to stay relevant & competitive in the DigitalEra.

OpenData & OpenSource are two critical engines to empower collaboration among technology giants, startups, citizens, governments & universities in the DigitalEconomy. In the AI &  BigData space, open data and open source technologies have proven to be efficient & cost-effective in getting big data stored, analysed & visualised. Open source data & open source products are no longer as risky as they used to be, so more companies are adapting & implementing leading open data tools like #Apache’s #ASF’s Hadoop, #Kafka and #R.

Open source tools are also globally democratized to the mass from tech giants to startups, enterprises to SMEs & experts to laymen.  Where is Hong Kong now? Here is a chance to learn from all the key stakeholders in the Open Sources Economy. HKPC HKSTP Cyberport HKU has co-organized an Open Data & Open Sources Forum on Oct 29. Thanks Edmond Lai and his teammates HKPC to organize it. Registration https://lnkd.in/fXAfJc2 & agenda https://lnkd.in/fkzTC6i

OGCIO PCPD industry practitioners & researchers will share their experiences on open data & open sources. On behalf of OpenCertHub, I will share the open sources talent development in HK, mainland & Asia. It is our honour to be a sponsor for the forum together with AWS CIOConnect. See you there.
