I am grateful to have Anna Lin #GS1HK as my guest in another episode of the #ToaSirDataTalk #ToaSir講數 series. Anna has been with #GS1 for 30 years and brought standards and rich experience to the #SupplyChain and #Retail industries in Hong Kong and the region.

We talked about how these industries have been making use of #data in the past 3 decades and the future decade. GS1 plays a vital role in #GlobalTrade#eCommerce and #O2O business. 6 billion GS1 #Barcodes scanned global daily. Data captured in these processes are very useful and powerful.

Anna pointed out that, from the beginning till now, #Digitization was important so everything could be easily managed and tracked in an effective and efficient ways. With processes and standards in place by using technologies like #RFID#IOT, the next important key step is #DataIntelligence. That is how to make good use of the captured data in our digitization phases to enhance our business, create values for customers and generate innovative business models.

What’s next? #SmartKiosk#AIOT#2DBarCode and more will further integrate data from supply chain and retail. Data analytics are the key. GS1 HK and #OpenCertHub shared the same vision. GS1 believes that a standardized barcode and further generation of the standard is the global language of business while OpenCertHub believes that data is the next business language apart from English and your local language.

Both organizations joined hands to launch a series of #BigData certification training to all levels of employees to strengthen their #DataLiteracy so that they unlock the value and power of the data generated in the supply chain and retail. We aim to #reskill and #upskill today’s leaders and workforce with the ability to analyze, communicate and argue with, storytelling about data, and most importantly making decision and taking actions based on data.

Thanks both #GS1HK and #OCH teams. Stay tuned on how to access my “Toa Sir Data talk” with Anna and other episodes in the series.

No one enjoyed queuing before the Covid19 but I felt great to be physically on a long queue to get into the #GS1 Hong Kong Summit today at #HKCEC https://lnkd.in/gpE26UJ. Over 1,500 offline & online participants joined the event today. A few inspirations that I would like to share with you.

Ricky Wong has been innovative in his career. He just had another one which is a great news to our #BigData industry – his #OpenDataBank initiative. It opens up the data from his #HKTVMall to the public through #API. External companies can innovate better customer experience by connecting data with his. It also sets a great role model to encourage other companies to open up their data for customers & social good as well. https://lnkd.in/gJy4xsk

Randy Lai #Mcdonald said that engaging not only with external but also internal customers. Her colleagues are young & digital natives. Making use of apps to deliver ongoing training to them is effective. Social connection & being a part of it,, not being an outsider is a great view too.

Thanks Kelvin Leung Anna Lin Mignone Cheng #GS1HK to make the offline show shine again. The good news is that I will physically queue up for the 6th Cloud Forum https://www.cloudforum.hk/ tomorrow in the same venue organized by Catherine Chan #Kornerstone.

I shared my view in an interview conducted in hashtagGS1HK Annual IoT Conference 2019 on how hashtagIOT, hashtagAIOT, hashtag5G and hashtagBigData work together to empower business and technology leaders and professionals with high hashtagDataQuotient or hashtagDQ so that they can lead and compete in the hashtagDigitalEconomy. In the hashtagAI Era, 30% of all current jobs will be automated by AI by 2030 according to hashtagPWC. At the same time, 30% of our workforce in leading enterprises need to be a hashtagCitizenDataScientist according to hashtagGartner. Do you get the logic from these 2 numbers and what does it mean to you? Our view is that DQ will be as equally important as today’s hashtagIQ, hashtagEQ and major language skills, such as, hashtagEnglish, for the success of everyone in our new workplace of Digital Economy. hashtagOpenCertHub‘s mission is to democratize data literacy to the mass and transform the current workforce to be citizen data scientists, data engineers, data scientists and more in open source environment. Find out more here www.opencerthub.com Thanks again for Hong Kong GS1 and Anna Lin Andy Bien leadership for making this happen and empower HK to be a data-drivenSmartCity.
