A seminar is held by ACCA regarding to the recent hot topic ‘BIG DATA’ for its members and students. Dr. Toa Charm and Dr. Lawrence Wong are invited to share their views and experience of the big data era with finance and accounting professionals.
Big data is a hot topic these days among not only technologists but also business leaders in the West and the East. What is Big Data exactly? What roles should finance professionals play in the Big Data Era? Finance professionals should ride on their traditional score-keeper role and actively play more a role in business transformation and focus more on financial implications of strategy execution. Given the integration of increasingly rich data about markets, sales, customers, internal operations, external information and unstructured data, finance professionals can productively use such information and identify opportunities to accelerate growth and enhance profitability of the company.
This workshop aims to help finance and accounting professionals and executives to understand big data and its implication to their profession, learn how to answer the above mentioned questions more accurately, faster and most of the time cheaper, and ultimately transform themselves from playing a traditional finance role to a value-creating leader in the Big Data Era.
