How do you like my “Digital Look”? Stay young and stay innovative. We should not call “IT Look” anymore as it not cool or chill enough. It should call “Digital Look” or “D-Look” these days.

Since I have seriously been engaging with the innovation and technology ecosystem worldwide 7 to 8 years ago, I feel younger and more passionate than my last 25 years in the traditional IT industry. If you would like to be younger or look-n-feel at least, stick around the innovation and tech ecosystem.

Feel really grateful and happy to be back to large-scale physical innovation and technology conferences and exhibitions in the 2021 Hong Kong ICT Expo this week and the 2021 Hong Kong FinTech Week next week. More importantly seeing my friends and partners f2f like #OpenCertHub Andy Kwok #B4B Francois Lee #HKTDC Will Li #Arical Clement Tien #CRGroup Dennis Choi #Cyberport Queenie Chang #HKSTP and #ASTRI friends, Emil Chan Paul kk Chan wilson chong and more. Lots of joy and catch-up!

See you around in the upcoming physical events. More to come like 2021 HKICT Awards Ceremony… I have a series of fully packed activities before Christmas. Cheers.

I am grateful to have Anna Lin #GS1HK as my guest in another episode of the #ToaSirDataTalk #ToaSir講數 series. Anna has been with #GS1 for 30 years and brought standards and rich experience to the #SupplyChain and #Retail industries in Hong Kong and the region.

We talked about how these industries have been making use of #data in the past 3 decades and the future decade. GS1 plays a vital role in #GlobalTrade#eCommerce and #O2O business. 6 billion GS1 #Barcodes scanned global daily. Data captured in these processes are very useful and powerful.

Anna pointed out that, from the beginning till now, #Digitization was important so everything could be easily managed and tracked in an effective and efficient ways. With processes and standards in place by using technologies like #RFID#IOT, the next important key step is #DataIntelligence. That is how to make good use of the captured data in our digitization phases to enhance our business, create values for customers and generate innovative business models.

What’s next? #SmartKiosk#AIOT#2DBarCode and more will further integrate data from supply chain and retail. Data analytics are the key. GS1 HK and #OpenCertHub shared the same vision. GS1 believes that a standardized barcode and further generation of the standard is the global language of business while OpenCertHub believes that data is the next business language apart from English and your local language.

Both organizations joined hands to launch a series of #BigData certification training to all levels of employees to strengthen their #DataLiteracy so that they unlock the value and power of the data generated in the supply chain and retail. We aim to #reskill and #upskill today’s leaders and workforce with the ability to analyze, communicate and argue with, storytelling about data, and most importantly making decision and taking actions based on data.

Thanks both #GS1HK and #OCH teams. Stay tuned on how to access my “Toa Sir Data talk” with Anna and other episodes in the series.

Susanna also walked me through their facilities with lots of new initiatives and fun. We both believe that empowering partners, customers and merchants with the power of data analytics is the key to the success of today’s business in the #DigitalEconomy.

Many thanks to Susanna and her teammates in Bonjour. We will continue talking to influential leaders on Data. Stay tuned for #ToaSirDataTalk and #ToaSir講數 on how you can access to this series of experience sharing.

It was one of the best forums on #AI and #BigData that I have hosted in the recent years where speakers and participants were highly engaged. Thanks for Shanghai Commercial Bank to invite my team #OpenCertHub to co-organize this forum.

#ShanghaiCommercialBank is one of the major banks in Hong Kong. They are passionate about #DigitalTransformation in particular how to become a AI-first data-driven bank.

I have invited top Hong Kong locally-grown AI #startups, multinational consulting firm and Chinese tech-savvy financial group to share with Shanghai Commercial Bank how they have empowered mid-sized banks in Hong Kong, Mainland China and other major economies in Asia. We have talked through AI technologies, application, adoption, challenges, culture, #ecosystem#data#reskilling#upskilling and more.

More importantly, CEO Mr. David Kwok and Board Member Mr. Sunny Cheung fully supported and engaged with us. They asked sensible questions and encouraged their senior management, middle management and young colleagues to proactively participate and have the courage to innovate. More than 250 staff have joined the forum on site and online as well. We also exchanged ideas through networking sessions.

Many corporations have noticed the importance of Data, Big Data AI & aggressively kick-started its Digital Transformation journey. However, successful Digital Transformation involves far more than IT or DT (Data Technology) tasks, it calls for company-wide full participation of all departments. In any change management process, talent is always the key.

As such, top management including CEO, CTO, CIO, CDO, COO, CFO, CMO, HRBP, etc. will need to co-design digital transformation strategy, set up of organization structure, develop Data Literacy culture within the company, build up a strong data-literated team from recruitment, training & reskilling current staff, etc.

It is my pleasure to deliver an information session on Apr 17 for AmCham Shanghai to help their members in China to get the latest information on the critical keys & considerations for corporations conducting Digital Transformation. Thanks for the arrangement from Kornerstone & OpenCertHub in Shanghai.

We will explore:

  1. Global scene & China’s example in Digital Transformation
  2. Key successful factors & examples in Digital Transformation
  3. Importance of Data Literacy & Re-skill
  4. Roadmap on People Dimension in conducting Digital Transformation

AI will bring human & machine to work closely together. Rather than just Automation, Augmentation is the real thing that we need to adapt to in this decade. Digital Colleague will be working with us perhaps managing and supervising us. In the professional world, that is no exception and excuse. Accounting and Finance industry is facing the same challenge. Digital Accountant is emerging & becomes a must for all in the industry.

We have delivered a CPD webinar today to ACCA members on the topic “The Most Wanted Accountant in the Digital Economy”. Hundreds of accounting & finance (F&A) professionals participated.  We have lots of respect to the learning attitude of our fellow ACCA’s members during the challenging period of the Coronavirus. We started the forum with 3 critical questions that every F&A professional needs to have serious thoughts in the Digital Economy.

  1. Will AI replace F&A professionals? How bad? How soon?
  2. Are there any new roles for F&A professionals? If yes, what are they?
  3. What & how should F&A professionals reskill themselves so they can continue to be relevant & capable of taking up the new roles in the Digital Economy?

Daniel Yuen shared his view on Citizen Data Scientist & why F&A professionals need to strengthen their Data Literacy.  Patrick Tsoi then demonstrated how Open Sources based big data tools can make a huge difference to visualize & manage Big Data from the traditional Excel and BI tools. Thanks to both.

Appreciate ACCA HK to lead the Digital Transformation for and bring in innovation to the Accounting & Finance industry in Hong Kong. I have been collaborating with the team since 20+ years ago. Two of the photos below were taken in the panels of two ACCA annual conferences 15 years in between. Amazing that both HSU President Simon Ho and I were in both panels. What a great memory. I hope I could continue to support it in the next 15 to 20 years. Thank you so much to ACCA.

Appreciate ACCA, Kornerstone Catherine Chan & OpenCertHub Andy Kwok to co-organize this webinar. Kornerstone provides Citizen Data Scientist training courses while OpenCertHub provides examinations to certify big data, AI & open-source talents.

Many of the offline classes & forums have been canceled or postponed due to the Cornavirus outbreak. Fortunately, technology can keep learning as usual. A group of big data experts has made use of technology to share their experience online on the topic of BigDataLiteracy in the DigitalEconomy.

HKPC together with OpenCertHub organized an online forum on the topic “The Most Wanted Data Technology Talent”. In this decade, AI & Big Data skill will be a necessity for everyone, not just IT & data scientists. We need IQ, EQ & now DQ in order to compete and survive. DQ stands for DataQuotient or DataLiteracy. Every business leader and executive needs to boost their DQ in order to be able to create data-driven business models and monetize their data. It is a common language like English that we use it for our business worldwide. Please refer to my previous article for more. https://lnkd.in/fwqbUff

Reskilling everyone of us to be a CitizenDataScientist has become an urgency in this decade no matter what industry & what position we are in now. Hundreds of audiences from a diverse background has joined the online forum. Glad that they have started aware of this urgency.

Thanks Patrick Tsoi , Daniel Yuen, Andy Kwok, HKPC Edmond Lai, Karen Fung, Desmond Chan, & the audiences joined the forum.

Experts shared their views on the Enterprise Adoption and Business Models of OpenData and OpenSources in HKPC Hong Kong Productivity Council 1.5 months ago. If you have missed it, please watch and review it here on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/fnVsie4

In the capacity as the Chairman of OpenCertHub, I shared my view in the panel discussion on democratizing DataLiteracy to everyone to fuel the growth of DigitalEconomy. Gartner created the term BigData 2 decades ago and Big Data has further stormed the world since then. In the decade of 2020, we will see their vision on Data Literacy as a language for everyone in Digital Economy to become reality.

Apart from DataScientist, as Gartner took DataEconomy further, we need all business leaders and professionals to be CitizenDataScientist. AI and Big Data Open Sources tools will accelerate this. If you are interested in this topic, you can watch my session on the video (from 3:45 to 12:12).

I also had a previous post on the event organized by HKPC https://lnkd.in/fQHkiW8
