𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡: 𝐇𝐊𝐓’𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬

In today’s volatile and fast-changing landscape, the idea of being “𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥” 𝐧𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬. Even the most established companies must challenge themselves to evolve—and Hong Kong Telecom #HKT is doing just that.

Over the past few days, I had the privilege of co-leading an intensive workshop alongside two esteemed CUHK professors, Dr. Gilbert Cheung and Professor Dominic Chan, to empower HKT’s top leaders. Our mission: equip them with 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

From nurturing 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠, we focused on helping these leaders lead both change and people. We also tackled a crucial piece of the puzzle—how to 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 to make transformation truly sustainable. Change isn’t just strategic; it’s deeply human.

The workshop was packed with hands-on exercises that brought together leaders from across business units. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬-𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐩 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥—𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐬, 𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠. We pushed them to think out of the box, inside out, and outside in—all in pursuit of uncovering meaningful, high-impact opportunities.

𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐰𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬. As they absorbed new frameworks and strategies, their original concepts evolved—some subtly, others dramatically—into sharper, more compelling proposals. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐛𝐲 𝐇𝐊𝐓 & 𝐏𝐂𝐂𝐖 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠. Many are veterans of the company, yet they embraced new mindsets with open hearts and curious minds.

This isn’t the end—it’s just the beginning. Over the next few months, we’ll 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲’𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞, 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡.
