It was an absolute privilege to be part of a compelling discussion alongside top professors and industry experts from Japan, Korea, Singapore, mainland China, and Hong Kong. We explored how the shipping industry might transform by 2050, focusing on megatrends, cutting-edge technologies, and the evolving needs for talent.

I contributed my perspective on transformative tech trends like AI (GenAI, LLM and Agentic AI), Big Data, Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, and 3D Printing, and how these could reshape the shipping industry in ways beyond imagination. Some of these trends are disruptive and will have significant impact to the whole industry.
I was particularly impressed by ONE to have this annual practice to tap into the external world on ideas. Shipping is a traditional industry but ONE is leading many other companies in the New Economy with this approach. Excellently done. It is a live example of open innovation – “The world is my lab”. Keep it up, the ONE team.
My advice: Innovate boldly, be the first to identify and capitalize on emerging opportunities, and work toward building a robust “Innovation Engine” to lead the future. Let’s keep pushing boundaries and turning visionary ideas into reality!
