Navigating the role of an Independent NonโExecutive Director (#INED) in the AI era presents both new opportunities and new responsibilities. As AI, data, and cybersecurity risks evolve rapidly, many of these challenges fall outside the traditional experience of INEDs.
To stay effective, Iโve been strengthening my capabilities in AI, Data Governance, and Cybersecurity, ensuring I can provide meaningful oversight in a world where technology is reshaping every control and every risk.
At the same time, the wisdom and judgment of seasoned INEDs remain irreplaceable. This is why I joined HKiNEDA and completed their INED certification โ to learn from a community deeply committed to governance excellence.

Recently, we had the privilege of visiting the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption (#ICAC) to learn from their decades of experience in combating bribery and corruption. I tried the famous ICAC coffee as a guest, not a suspect. It tastes good.ใๅฅฝๅขๅผๅพๆ

ขๅฑใare the words behind me.
Since its establishment in 1973, ICAC has played a defining role in shaping Hong Kongโs global reputation as a clean, trusted, and worldโleading city. Their work is a powerful reminder that:
Good governance must be continuously protected, renewed, and strengthened โ especially in an era of digital transformation and AI.

My sincere thanks to:
– Ricky Lai, Anna Lam and David Yip from ICAC for their insightful sharing
– Dr. Lawrence WONG and Roy Lo from HKiNEDA for organizing this meaningful learning session
– The dedicated ICAC team, whose commitment across generations continues to safeguard Hong Kongโs integrity.
Your work inspires all of us who serve in governance roles.
